The annual Artist Market took place Saturday, Nov. 9, at CityPlace.
Students, staff, and the community were able to support students by browsing and purchasing handmade art.

Browsing a clothing stand, communications sophomore Morgan Bertisch picks a shirt to buy from visual sophomore Chloe Dobbins and theatre sophomore Ally Hatzissimou. “It was so fun to explore the different artists and see their work,” Bertisch said. “I loved being there to get the whole experience…I had a great time.”

Packaging items, visual senior Bianca Lara Castillo gives her customers stickers, trinkets, and painted items that they purchased. “This was such an amazing event,” one customer said. “I truly cannot wait for next year (to see) what people have in store.”

Talking to their customers, visual sophomore Chloe Dobbins and theatre sophomore Ally Hatzissimou continues selling their “whimsical” themed artworks. “I really enjoyed the creative process,” Hatzissimou said. “I feel this was a great experience to learn and just enjoy the artistic views of others.”

Waiting for customers, visual junior Felicite Lehel stands at her station that displays her artwork. “(When) making prints beforehand, everything arrives beforehand, and it’s a lot of hard work,” Lehel said. “The actual day of the market is fun. You wait some time, make some sales, and it’s a good time.”

Talking to friends, visual senior Alexa Maynard presents the artwork she painted. “I felt the Artist Market was a really good chance to put my name out there and realistically see what selling as an artist would be like,” Maynard said. “It was a great experience, and I learned a lot about planning, pricing, and how to set myself up as an artist.”

Presenting his artwork, visual sophomore Marcalix Lemene pitches his products to customers. “The Artist Market was a great experience. It was my first time this year, and I was very nervous that people were gonna be very competitive, but everyone was so sweet and generous,” Lemene said. “Next year, I will definitely be doing it again, and I’m very excited to see what my classmates, upperclassmen, and underclassmen will come up with next year!”
