Nairobi, Kenya – Witnesses reported the area to be “like a Hollywood action scene” when on Sep. 21, a terrorist attack began at midday with an estimated 10 to 15 gunmen took over the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, opening fire and keeping shoppers hostage. Five were Americans, the State Department reported Sunday. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew and his fiance were among the fatalities.
At least 62 people have been killed and more than 175 wounded. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew and his fiancee are among the fatalities. Kenyan authorities are taking action with more than 10 suspects arrested for questioning in connection with the attack. Three terrorist have been confirmed killed on Saturday. More than 200 civilians have been rescued while Kenya Defense Forces reports 11 wounded soldiers.
“With the professionals on site, I assure Kenyans that we have as good a chance to successfully neutralize the terrorists as we can hope for,” Kenyatta said in a public address.

Apple’s system upgrade, the iOS 7, was released Sep. 18 with positive feedback. Apple’s press release today states that “more than 200 million iOS devices are now running the completely redesigned iOS 7, making it the fastest software upgrade in history.” Features to the system include a new control system, an updated notification center, multiple design changes to the home screen, Safari, the ‘Music’, ‘Camrea’ and ‘Photos’ applications, an addition of the new iTunes radio and much more.

The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards aired last night with Neil Patrick Harris of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ hosting. The night included a few musical numbers by Harris and he received positive feedback on the job. Some awards include ‘Modern Family’ for Outstanding Comedy Series’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’. Time was made for some ‘In Memoriam’ moments throughout the night, including one for ‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith who passed in July, and ‘Sopranos’ star James Gandolfini, who passed in June.
