Communications freshman Rebecca Bullock led Dreyfoos’ Battle of the Books team to victory in their competition against Suncoast High School. The team consists of four freshmen and one sophomore, which makes it the youngest team to compete in Dreyfoos history. This is the fifth win out of the six years Dreyfoos has competed.
“Battle of the Books is when the two top teams in the county compete against each other at the Educational Network Studio,” Bullock said. “They ask you very specific details about the books.”
There is much preparation that goes into a season of Battle of the Books. Members had to read 15 books and know their details in great specificity. Organization and drive can be attributed to the team’s win.
“I had a great team who read all the books. They know their books. Suncoast is a very good team and it was a pretty close competition,” Bullock said.
After a successful season, Bullock plans to participate in the Battle of the Books again next year.
