The Multicultural Club hosted this year’s multicultural show on May 22. Meyer Hall was full of students who did not know what to expect from the show, but any expectations were shattered with various great performances by students of all majors.
“The purpose of having the multicultural show is to show the school that there [are] a variety of people who come from different places, have different backgrounds, showcase what makes each person special and show that we are all united,” vocal junior Sashauna McKain said.
The show featured many performances, such as dances about the Jewish persecution of WWII, songs in Spanish and a piano piece composed in Hungary. McKain participated in the show by singing “Jammin,” originally performed by Bob Marley.
“[I performed Jammin] because I am Jamaican and I love reggae,” McKain said. “I wanted to showcase that to the school,”
Students’ love for their home country and their want to showcase their country’s art and music is what led many to perform at the show, which received a positive reception from the crowd.
“The multicultural show was a stunning blend of various cultures and showed the talent and drive of the students to put on a show that so showcased the diversity of Dreyfoos,” communications sophomore Nick Oregero said.
