The Dreyfoos Class of 2017 had its first Senior Blackout day. Members of the soon-to be-senior class dressed all in black with gold. Before school on May 27, the Class of 2017 met in the student parking lot. Later during lunch, the SGA and Class Council of the new senior class coordinated the first upperclassmen photo with music.
“I’m finally starting to feel like a senior,” dance junior Darius Hickman said. “It was a day well spent representing my class.”
The event was hosted by the new officers of SGA and Class Council for the Class of 2017, who were able to experience what their positions will entail next year.
“This was our first SGA event of the year and we were super excited to be able to pump up the seniors,” digital media junior and SGA president Marco Estrella said. “We actually decided to do this event the morning of when we saw that there was no morning celebration.”
During the next school year, the Class of 2017 will continue on with the Dreyfoos senior class traditions with more blackout days and school events.
“Next year we want to reform the programs that are going on at Dreyfoos and how we can reinforce and work on them so they can be positive influences on the Dreyfoos community,” Estrella said. “[We] want to add more events like this and also make sure that the events and initiatives that are [happening] follow the ideas of #keepdreyfoosweird.”
