The A.R.T.S. Club held their annual Jefferson Jubilee in the Dreyfoos media center on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The jubilee was named in honor of Lea Jefferson who taught at Dreyfoos and sponsored A.R.T.S. Club. Ms. Jefferson passed away two years ago.
Underprivileged and migrant children from Pahokee and Belle Glade attended this year’s jubilee. At the event, the A.R.T.S. Club gave these children gifts and performed music and dance shows for them. This was done to alleviate hardships they may experience in their lives. Many of them have a hard home life, filled with either financial or familial problems. Dreyfoos works with the district Title One Program in order to hold this event. All the volunteers for the event are Dreyfoos students that have been involved with the club throughout the year.
Digital media junior and Vice President of the A.R.T.S. Club Isaac Acosta said, “The club would love to see some new faces coming out to events for the rest of this year and the Jubilee next year.”
