From performing in Thailand to playing in Elmo’s Rock ‘N’ Roll bar in Boynton Beach, strings sophomore Jasmine Marchi has performed in over 100 different shows. These shows include performances throughout the state, national, and even international levels. Marchi performs as a solo bassist and as the lead singer of her band, Maximum Friction, which she founded in 2019.
Marchi hosted a “Metal and Mayhem” concert event on Jan. 25 in her backyard, bringing in over 100 RSVPs and a food truck. She marketed the event throughout January, posting flyers on social media. The event featured five bands including Maximum Friction, who played their original songs such as “Nameless,” “Watch Me Now,” “Boom!” and “Death by Dawn” as well as covers of songs like “Master of Puppets” by Metallica.
“I’ve done many years of playing instruments and singing,” Marchi said. “I usually write riffs or my drummer does, and then we put stuff together during practice. The guitar player writes some riffs and all his solos. I write lyrics.”
Marchi plays the violin at school and is the lead singer, lyricist, and bassist for her heavy metal band. A team of artists including drummer Anton McCampbell and guitarist Jaden Garcia help Marchi write the songs and play the music.
“There was a lot more thought and planning that went into this event that I’ve never really put forth with any other show I’ve played,” Marchi said. “I mean, even my bandmates seemed more interested (in this event) than (with) a regular concert.”
