This morning at the Kravis Center for Performing Arts, the YWCA held their annual Stand Against Racism event during which Mayor Jeri Muoio proclaimed April 25th Stand Against Racism Day. The event featured Carlotta Walls LaNier as main speaker. Mrs. Walls LaNier is the youngest of the “Little Rock Nine,” a group of students who – supported by the National Guard, as directed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, helped enforce the decision of Brown v. Board of Education which called for the desegregation of schools across the nation.
