With the school year progressing into February and March, both the basketball and soccer seasons have come to an end. Winter sports are officially over, and Dreyfoos moves into its spring sports. On Jan. 23, the Dreyfoos Track and Field season came officially underway. With over 80 players arriving at the first conditioning, head coach and social studies teacher Ross Venning brings high expectations to the upcoming season.
“We have a couple of newbies who I think are gonna be really good,” Mr. Venning said. “ I hope we can keep 80 players, but what usually happens is they end up cutting themselves because practice is not for them, or it is too hard.”
With a new load of incoming talent, the prospect of Dreyfoos doing well is a serious possibility.
“[Conditioning] has been going really well,” band senior Tommy Gallagher said. “This is my first year and I want to be able to do the 16 hundred and the two mile.”
Conditioning has consisted of various running exercises, using these almost as a way of filtering out those who really want to be there. There are now high expectations for the upcoming Track and Field season, which leaves Dreyfoos students and faculty alike with a lot to look forward to.
“My goal is to win as many meets as possible,” Gallagher said. “I want to be able to quicken my run and overall get a little faster.”
